Still in Paradise

Mexican tile from a fountain.
We are still at Paradise Village Marina and it's been hard adjusting since Danielle left. We miss having family with us. The next time we will see her is at her graduation on June 11th from Cal Poly.
The part of the Marina along the lagoon/river where we are docked.
So the day after Danielle left, Tuesday, Rick and I just straightened up the boat and went over to the Tuesday Market again. We met our friends Kirk and Heidi who came by bus with some of their friends from La Cruz at the market only to say goodbye a few minutes later as they had plans to go into Puerto Vallarta to have a late lunch. It was a nice quick visit, which was fine with me because I really needed to go see the doctor again.
Hospital on one side Casino on the other
Right across the parking lot from the Marina is a very nice modern looking Hospital, which also happens to be in the same building with a Casino. I guess if you are in the hospital and you have visitors they can go gambling while you are in surgery. ??

Anyway, it was nice and convenient for me. I went into emergency, filled out the paperwork and saw a doctor almost immediately. He was such a wonderful person. He spoke English very well for one and he listened to all of my symptoms, examined me and explained thoroughly what I had, what the cause was and what to do about it. Turns out I have Colitis Nerviosa (nervous colitis).  He gave me some pills to help with the symptoms but told me I needed to take care of the rest on my own. He said pills are only like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. Sounded pretty wise to me.

So since I am in the process of trying to fix my current health situation, we have decided to stay here at Paradise Village until my body starts functioning a little better and to be closer to a medical facility. Once we leave here and head to the Sea of Cortez, there really won’t be any place for health care. And, I’d like to be able to enjoy what we will be seeing along the way and being a part of it, not just observing. And Rick could use his first mate to be in ship shape.

A typical Lepe painting
Today, Friday, April 1st we are going to take a little excursion and take the bus into Puerto Vallarta in search of a Gallery that is supposed to have the works of the late Manuel Lepe Macedo. My mother was a huge fan of this artist and had several of his pieces framed hanging on the walls of our home while growing up. Since she has passed, all of us children have inherited one or two of Manuel Lepe’s paintings.  His paintings are whimsical and naïve in nature based on the landscapes and townscapes of Puerto Vallarta. They usually are of children playing and angels and flying about. Everybody is always having a good time in these paintings. It was sort of my mother’s motto. She’d say, “everybody dance, everybody have a good time”. So I am reminded of her and her love of having a good time. I just learned that April 17th  is Manuel Lepe Day (the day of his passing) and it is celebrated in Puerto Vallarta.
To be continued…
